My dirty little secret...

The truth is...I'm a sugar addict.  I'm 27 years old and have been in and out of the sugar world for about 6 years now.  I actually discovered the concept and the first site about 8 years ago.  I'm no newbie, that's for sure, but neither am I a serial sugar.  I've gone years without dipping a toe into the sugarbowl and I make a point of being able to pay my rent and bills without it.  I just can't afford the fabulous restaurants, trips, designer goodies and, most importantly, massive damage to my student debt without it.

So I have stories.  I have lots and lots of stories.  I have had amazing first dates and unbelievably bad ones.  I've flown halfway around the world for a first date and made people come that distance just to see little old me for an evening.  I've been to some of the best restaurants and spas in the world and had pots that were billionaires and princes.  It hasn't always been perfect or easy but it has almost always been fun and when it hasn't, I've taken a break.  And maybe one day, when it's all over, I'll publish a book.  Or maybe not.  It has, after all, taken me 8 years to put together this blog.

Shellac, my love.

I have braces.  No, no, not the kind you can see.  The invisible kind (and not "invisible" like my "invisible" friend but "invisible" like invisalign.)  They're great because at 27 years old, I'm way too freaking old to have metal mouth.  I'm also way too vain.  Anyway, so they're great.  Except...I have to take them out to eat and when I do so, they damage my manicure.  Every.  Single.  Time.  It's expensive and exhausting to be redoing my manicure twice a week because of these braces, especially since I'm going to be wearing them for the next 15 months or so.

Hence my new discovery and my new love: Shellac.

It's about $50 or so per manicure in  nyc but it's worth every penny.  In over two weeks (15 days and counting!) I've only had 3 small chips and of them, only one is noticeable to anyone else.  Those chips are also only there because the braces literally chipped my nail, not just the polish.  Awesome.  Wonderful.  Total love.

We all knowing being a sugar means looking polished for any and all dates and now I don't have to worry about my nails more than once every two or three weeks.  Win!

Now how do I get shellac to comp me some of these for the free advertising?  ;)
